Blogger Lovin’: Gela Abores

Who could wear this woven Chocolate Clothing hat better than flower child Gela? Gela Abores’ carefree, boho style had us craving for more. She could easily charm anyone with her wit, personality and sass. Her blog, Boat Ride Through The Sky, is a perfect blend of personal style, amazing food & travel photos with a pinch of love on the side - just how we like it.

1. Tell us a little something about yourself.

I’m 23 years old, a graduate of International Relations, and currently taking up my second degree in Fashion Marketing & Management. I’m a bit of a packrat; I collect all sorts of random things, such as old photographs, hats, and ribbons. I eat like a man, and for that, my friends call me a “garbage disposal”. I probably spend more money on food than clothes. Some of my other interests include fashion, travel, singing, photography, and baking.

2. What is your blog all about and how did it start?

I started Boat Ride Through The Sky in January 2010 out of boredom. I use it to share my personal style mostly, but I also like to post about food, travel, and pretty much anything that strikes my fancy. More than anything else, however, my blog is where I can express myself freely and keep track of memories that I want to look back to. I always try to put a feeling or a story behind every post.

3. How would you describe/define your style?

I usually just go with my gut. But the closest would probably be: laid back and comfortable with a flirty touch. I’m a no-fuss dresser. I tend to opt for simple silhouettes, and then add my own landi into the mix. ;)

4. What inspires you?
A lot of things inspire me. A few things I can think of at the moment:
-People who are assertive and successful yet remain to be humble and down-to-earth.
-Traveling. Learning about cultures and seeing the rest of the world give me such a thrill and provide me a different perspective each time.
-Art, music, and ideas. How easily we can change and manipulate something is fascinating.

5. Aside from blogging, what do you usually work on or do?

At the moment, I’m a full-time Fashion Marketing & Management student at Raffles Design Institute. That’s mostly what’s been keeping me busy. I aspire to be an entrepreneur someday, so I’ve also been planning on starting my own small business (although it’s still up in the air). Apart from blogging, during my free time, I go out with my boyfriend, hang out with friends, play with my little nephew, watch my favorite television series, among other things. I also recently got into yoga!

6. What is your go to outfit?
A dress with boots. Works every time!

7. If you were to save just 3 items in your closet, what would those be?

My khaki trousers, a white tank top, and my favorite leather sandals.

8. Sweetest thing that has ever happened to you?

Off the top of my head, it would probably be the one my boyfriend did for me in August of last year. It was the night before our third anniversary, and he suddenly turned up with a ukelele and serenaded me right outside my house! He only learned how to play the ukelele on that same day! (Chocolate Insider note: Awwwwww! ♥)

Looks We Love: The Oscar’s After Party

…cos after the show it’s the — after party! ;) (Yes, we know we just heard you sing it!)

Everyone’s been buzzing about who wore what during the Oscar’s Red Carpet pre-show, so here in Sugar Rush, allow us to show you the looks we totally adored at the after party!

Selena Gomez in Dolce and Gabbana

We love how Selena Gomez pulled off this Old Hollywood look perfectly! She looks young and sweet with a hint of sophistication and glamour. Tres chic!

Claire Danes in Valentino

Research shows that this dress is in red but some sources say it is in a hot pink color. Either way, we think Claire Danes looked amazing in it. The look seems so effortlessly put together but still had a beautiful and dreamy effect.

Kate Bosworth in Prabal Gurung

This look just threw us over the ledge! One word: AMAZING. Kate Bosworth totally being fashion forward, as always. Rocking the trends, as always. And looking stunning, as always. Dear Kate, can we be you for a minute?

J. Lo in Zuhair Murad

The voluptuous Miss Lopez struts her curves in another body-hugging gown that also took the downward neckline plunge. We get it, J. Lo - you’re sexy and you know it!

Cameron Diaz in Victoria Beckham

Swapping the pale ball gown she wore to the awards ceremony for a sleeker (read: less fuzzy) one in a vibrant tangerine color only means one thing - Cameron is ready to par-tay!

Elizabeth Olsen in Christian Dior

If Audrey Hepburn were still alive (RIP, dear Audrey), we think that she would definitely be rocking this look. Nonetheless, Elizabeth Olsen did not disappoint. Props for looking this good on your first Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth Banks in Chadwick Bell

We give Elizabeth Banks five stars for rocking this look like a diva! I mean, come on, it takes some major lady cojones to pick such an eye-catching gown and own it. Elizabeth definitely did in a major way. We are in LOVE.

Katie Holmes in Elie Saab Couture

The ever-so-stylish-since-she-married-Tom, Katie Holmes looked naturally chic. That color on her looks gorgeous! Her choice of accessories included a gold necklace, a white clutch, and dapper husband. How could you go wrong?
